Welcome! I’m Sharmishtha, and I’m a therapist and coach with a passion for helping people discover their true selves and find inner peace and self-confidence both within themselves and in their relationships.

I believe in providing a safe, affirming space where you can feel understood and accepted, and which will allow us to form a genuine relationship, collaborate on mutual goals, and identify and break down the barriers keeping you from living your most authentic and empowered life.

As a Therapist

I am able to provide therapy to you if you are residing in New York State. I’m a licensed therapist and have several years of experience working with clients facing a range of issues, including low self-esteem, difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues.

My number one goal when working with you is to cultivate a safe, warm, and collaborative alliance in which we can together tackle problems you are facing. I use a blend of evidence-based, progressive therapy frameworks including cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems frameworks, and mindfulness practices. I am passionate about social justice and have considerable experience working with BIPOC, immigrant, and LBGTQ+ populations in NYC.

Healing and growth can take time, effort, and most importantly, support. I’m here to support you in gaining insight, making positive changes, healing, and living your life to the highest level possible. 

As a Life Coach

I strive to create a safe environment in which I can learn about you and what you’re hoping to change in your life. I want to help you gain insight into yourself and help you create realistic and actionable goals towards the changes you want to make. I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques from my therapy background, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems frameworks, and mindfulness practices. 

I work especially well with students and young professionals who are struggling with procrastination, goal-setting, value exploration, or generally feeling overwhelmed and needing guidance on how to manage all areas of their busy lives. 

I’m here to help you understand and unpack some of the relationship issues you may be facing, whether with a romantic partner, family members, or even coworkers. Often, difficulties around our relationships intersect with individual struggles, and I’m here to help you understand and overcome barriers around communication, trust, sexual intimacy, and anything else that is contributing to conflict or confusion in your relationships.

I enjoy helping people develop a stronger, more empowered sense of themselves, especially through the lens of cultural identity, whether it be about race or ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigration status. 

As a Career Coach

Whether you’re a fresh graduate, a career changer, or well-established in your field, career-related issues can be exciting, daunting, and emotional, sometimes all at the same time. I work with a lot of clients who are in an explorative stage of their careers, and my approach to help is through a combination of open conversation, empowering questions, and validated assessment tools. 

Together we identify who you are, what you want, and what stands in the way of getting there. We identify your strengths, interests, and (perhaps most importantly) your values, and we develop a plan that gives you the confidence and ability to achieve your professional goals. And of course, I’m also here to explore ways in which career issues may be impacting other areas of your life, and vice versa, and to provide support and guidance in creating balance in your life.

I know how hard it can be to feel overwhelmed, confused, anxious, or just plain stuck. My aim is to provide you with a space that allows reflection, validation, and understanding without judgment, as well as new ideas, skills, and strategies to foster personal growth.

About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a dual Masters in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College in Southern California. I was born in India, grew up in Singapore, and moved around the United States for over a decade. 

I am now residing in Singapore and am able to provide therapy online to clients located in New York and Singapore, and life coaching and career coaching to clients all around the world. I use evidence-based forms of therapy including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness skills, DBT, and I also enjoy coaching individuals on the path of personal growth and self-discovery. I bring an international perspective and have unique insight and experience in multicultural families and relationships. I am fluent in both English and Hindi.
