Therapist Overview

Hi there! I’m Lauren, and I’m so grateful that you’re taking the time to get acquainted with me and the therapy and coaching services I offer. I understand how challenging it can be to find the right therapist or coach, and my hope is that this page will provide you with a clear picture of who I am so that you can confidently move forward in your search for an advocate in your journey towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Through my own mental health journey and healing process, I have developed a passion for helping others experience growth and wellness in all aspects of their lives. What I’ve learned is that our growth and transformation require us to look at ourselves and our stories with both gentleness and accountability. It requires us to see our humanness with loving awareness and take ownership and responsibility as we pursue uncovering more.

Although it can be incredibly challenging to hold our worth and lovability in high regard as we confront the parts of ourselves we are at odds with, this is the most important work that we can do for ourselves. My priority in our work together is to create an environment where you feel unconditionally accepted, understood, safe, and empowered – being loving and gentle with yourself and others while holding yourself and others accountable for the parts that can create ruptures, chaos, and dysfunction.

Ultimately, I believe that everyone is the expert of their own story, and I will meet you wherever you are in your growth journey and support you in achieving your goals using a client-centered approach. Drawing on principles from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including:

  • Emotion-focused therapy (EFT)
  • Psychobiological approach to couples therapy (PACT)
  • The Gottman Method
  • Solution-focused therapy
  • Structural family therapy
  • Motivational interviewing (MI)
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Narrative therapy
  • And mindfulness-based approaches

I integrate those that best fit your needs, preferences, and goals.

As you continue reading, you will learn more about my background and the services I provide. If you’re interested in working together, I invite you to schedule a free consultation with me, where we can explore whether this feels like a good fit and how we might partner together to pursue your goals.

Couples Therapy, Family Therapy & Relationship Coaching

If you seek to strengthen or improve your romantic relationship or family dynamic, I can serve you as a couples therapist, family therapist, marriage counselor, or relationship coach. As relational beings, we are wired for connection with others and have core relationship needs, including:

  • The need for dreams to be respected and encouraged
  • Grace and compassion for when we misstep
  • Shame-free feedback
  • Conflict that doesn’t threaten our relationships
  • Relational attunement

Safety is a fundamental component of this work and allows expansion, expression, honesty, and healing. Without it, we limited our ability to experience and contribute to relationships where our needs can be met. Thus, my priority when working with couples and families is to create a safe environment in which you and your partner or family member(s) can feel understood and valued so that you are more likely to experience improved communication and an increased sense of closeness and connection.

In my work with couples and families, I primarily use techniques and principles from emotionally focused couples therapy, the psychobiological approach to couples therapy, and the Gottman Method. Additionally, I’ve completed Level 1 and 2 training in the Gottman Method couples therapy. Altogether, these therapeutic approaches help promote healthier communication, trust, and connection while reducing reactivity and emotional distance in your relational systems.

Listed below are different areas that I can support you and your partner/s with:

I can provide couple and family therapy services to residents of Colorado and coaching services to you no matter where you live via online video. Learn more about the differences between therapy and coaching, and which approach is right for you.

Individual Therapy

In addition to working with couples and families, I also provide individual psychotherapy services to residents of Colorado and have experience working with individuals ranging in age from middle childhood through older adulthood.

Through individual therapy, I can help you with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Post-Traumatic Stress
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Relational Issues
  • Processing Family-of-Origin Experiences
  • Life Transitions and Difficult Adjustments
  • Grief and Loss
  • Body Image Issues

In individual therapy, I seek to help you develop greater self-awareness and coping skills through a holistic approach, combining evidence-based treatment modalities, a trauma-informed lens, and the mind-body connection. When helping individuals, I work collaboratively and utilize different evidence-based treatment approaches depending on your needs, including:

  • Solution-focused therapy
  • Emotionally-focused individual therapy
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Narrative therapy
  • Structural family therapy
  • Mindfulness practices

I am passionate about working with young adults, as this stage of life includes significant life transitions, where we often learn who we are and where we want to go in life. Although filled with excitement, this developmental phase can also feel overwhelming and challenging to navigate. By creating a safe, relaxed, and supportive environment, we can explore challenges you’re experiencing and develop coping strategies that you can apply to different areas of your life.

Another passion of mine is working with individuals with past traumas and helping them regain a sense of empowerment in their lives. Similar to my approach with other clients, I will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, as I understand how important it is for you to feel safe while exploring the impacts of your experiences.

Life Coaching

Another domain of my work is helping clients address growth areas in their lives and relationships through life coaching. As a life coach, I utilize a solution-focused and collaborative approach to help you identify fulfilling goals and provide you with concrete steps and strategies that allow you to achieve your desired changes. If you are not experiencing symptoms of a mental health disorder and are looking to obtain greater insight into unhelpful patterns, cultivate motivation for change, identify and set attainable goals, develop new skills and coping mechanisms, and improve your overall life satisfaction and fulfillment, life coaching may be a wonderful option for you!

Life coaching can help you:

  • Achieve Greater Life Satisfaction
  • Experience Personal and Professional Growth
  • Develop Skills that Promote Improved Well-Being
  • Navigate Dating
  • Improve Relational Dynamics
  • Strengthen Relationships
  • Create Realistic Action Plans for Areas of Growth

I can provide coaching services to you via online video, regardless of your location.

About Me

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas but later moved to Colorado to complete my education at Colorado State University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies and my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. I am a marriage and family therapist candidate in the state of Colorado.

My partner and I live in Breckenridge with our beloved rescue pup, Bailey. I spend as much time as I can outdoors in my spare time, where I enjoy long walks, hikes, camping trips, and ski adventures in the Colorado sunshine. I also love spending quality time with friends and family, tending to my growing plant collection, crafting, playing the piano, listening to music, and reading.

If you’re interested in working together, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you!
