If you’re considering getting involved in life coaching it’s wise to have questions. Not all coaching strategies are effective, and there is a lot of variability in the training and qualifications of different coaches. It’s smart to ask questions! If you have questions about coaching, like:
“How does coaching work?”
“What is the difference between coaching and therapy?”

“How much does coaching cost?”

Questions About Therapy?
Getting involved in genuinely transformational therapy can be a life-changing experience. The challenge is that not all approaches and not all practitioners have the type of positive, effective approach that helps you heal, grow, and make real and lasting change in your life.

If you are considering therapy, you probably (wisely) have more questions, like:

“How long does therapy take?”
“How does just talking about things make anything different for me?”
“How do I choose a good therapist? (And avoid a bad therapist?)”
“What is evidence-based therapy? Why does this matter?”
“How much does therapy cost?”
“Can I use my insurance for therapy?”
“What is the difference between therapy and life coaching?”
All these questions about therapy, and more, answered here.

Do you have questions about Dating Coaching, like:

Questions About Career Coaching?
Here is an overview of our career and professional development services:
What is "Evidence-Based" Counseling and Coaching?
Not all approaches to counseling and coaching are the same. Evidence-based approaches are those that have been found by research to be genuinely effective in helping you create real and lasting change. Unless therapy or coaching is grounded in these evidence-based approaches, it can feel wishy-washy and ineffective.
Learn about the different types of evidence-based counseling and coaching we practice here at Growing Self, so that you can make educated decisions about which approach is best for you.
Questions About Getting Started:
How do I get started?
We specialize in helping our clients create Love, Happiness and success through positive, effective, evidence-based counseling and coaching.
Creating real and lasting change in the most important parts of your life, like yourself, your relationship and your career is not an “event” but rather a growth process that begins when you enter into a relationship with an expert therapist or coach who can help you understand yourself, grow as a person, and learn new skills and strategies that enable you to create positive change. This is a growth process that occurs over time, step-by-step.
Because you’ll be working closely with your therapist or coach for a period of time it’s important that you feel good about who you are working with. That’s why we offer a free consultation meeting so that you can get to know them and discuss your hopes and goals to ensure it’s a good fit before moving forward.
If you would like to bypass the consultation session and jump right in, you can schedule a solution session instead.
This short (90 second video) gives you an overview of our services, and how to get started.

What are your rates? How much does this cost?
We understand that making real and lasting change in yourself, strengthening your relationship, and finding meaning and satisfaction in your career all have a value that cannot be calculated in dollars and cents. That’s why we bring you the very best, most effective counseling and coaching with highly trained and carefully vetted experts.
Your rate per session will vary depending on which expert you work with. You can choose to work with a more experienced expert, or you can select a more affordable expert who may be able to offer you income-based sliding scale rates.
Please review our Rates and Insurance page for detailed information about the pricing of our providers so that you can select the expert that will best meet your needs, as well as your budget.Go to Rates & Insurance Page
Do you take my insurance?
We specialize in helping our clients create Love, Happiness and Success. Our clients work with us to achieve personal growth, healthy relationships, self improvement and professional success through positive, effective counseling and coaching.
In contrast, health insurance covers “behavioral healthcare that is medically necessary treatment for a psychiatric condition.” Here at Growing Self, we do not specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions. Therefore, many of our core services are not considered “medically necessary treatments,” but rather what proactive people who are on a path of self-actualization and life satisfaction do to achieve their most precious goals. If that’s what you’re looking for, you are in the right place.
That said, under certain circumstances, we may be able to help you submit claims to your health insurance company if your work with us meets some specific criteria. Learn more about all of your affordable options, see the rates of the different providers on our team, and learn whether we can help you use your insurance benefits on our Rates and Insurance page.
What's the difference between a free consultation and a solution session?
Creating real and lasting change in your life is not an “event.” It’s a process that occurs over time — typically over weeks to months of work with a dedicated therapist or coach who can help you gain self awareness, learn new skills and strategies, and make changes in the way you think, feel and behave.
About Consultation Sessions
Because getting involved with a therapist or coach is such an important, potentially long-term relationship, we offer a Free Consultation, which is an opportunity to meet with the counselor or coach of your choice to talk about your hopes and goals, learn about them, and make sure it’s a good fit before moving forward with multi-session, private counseling or coaching.
About Solution Sessions
If you are looking to either bypass the consultation and jump right into the work, OR if you’d like to simply meet for a one-time coaching session to talk about a specific issue and get some direction you can schedule a Solution Session instead.
A Solution Session is a forty-five minute coaching session where you can talk at length about what’s been going on, and get our recommendations about specific things that will move you forward. You’ll leave with a written plan of action and no strings attached. (Although you can certainly meet with your coach again, if you’d like to.) We charge $95 for this service.
Watch this short (90 second) video to learn more about the differences between a free consultation and solution session, and decide which is right for you.

We have many options for you, and we can help you narrow down which of our experts might be a good fit for you through our interactive chat. You can sort by specialty, location, or choose a more experienced or more affordable provider depending on your needs. Tap to get your recommendations.
However, the best way to get connected with the right expert for you is to allow our knowledgeable client services team to assist you. You’re welcome to call our office to let us know what your goals are or share information that would help us match you with the right person. We are a small, close-knit group and our client services specialists Jordan and Erica know all of our providers very well. You can speak with them about what you’re looking for, and they then make recommendations about who might be the best fit, and help you schedule your first appointment. Tap to call.
We understand that connecting with the right counselor or coach can be a life-changing experience, and we encourage you to make this decision carefully. We offer a free consultation session in order for you to meet with the expert you’re considering so that you can get to know them, ask questions, and make sure you feel comfortable before moving forward.
We know that you are here because you are interested in making changes in the most important parts of your life, and we take our responsibility to you very seriously. You are on the cusp of a potentially life-changing experience. Our goal is for you to feel supported every step of the way in the incredibly important and valuable personal growth process that you deserve to have.
What if the person I want to meet with doesn't have any availability?
Our experts are popular! If you have your heart set on working with someone in particular, contact our office and let them know. We can reach out to them and see if they might be able to get you in.
You can connect with our team by phone, email, or chat. Links to all are available at the bottom of this page.
Where are you located? How do I contact you?
We have in-person office locations in the Denver metro area (Cherry Creek, Broomfield, DTC) and in Fort Collins. We have satellite offices in San Francisco, and Bentonville, AR, and more physical locations opening soon. However we have experts who are licensed in many states besides Colorado, and we work with people across the US and throughout the world through secure, HIPAA compliant online video conferencing.
You can view our office addresses, or contact our office by phone, email or chat on our Contact Us page. Our 24/7 receptionist is available to answer basic questions and help you schedule appointments anytime. Our in-house client services team is available to take your call or chat with you M-F from 9am to 5pm-ish Mountain Time. You can also connect directly with our billing manager, HR manager, or PR director.
Can I do my consultation call by phone instead of by online video?
Sure! Simply call our office at the time of your appointment and ask to be transferred to your expert. Our number is in the confirmation email and reminder emails you got from us when you scheduled your appointment. Your expert will be waiting to hear from you.
Can I do a solution session in person?
Currently our solution sessions are only available online or by phone. However if you would like to bypass the consultation meeting and jump right in with a first counseling or coaching session in person, that can be arranged. Please get in touch with our client services team by phone or email to let them know you’d like to get started ASAP and they can help you set up a first full in-person session with the expert of your choice. They can be reached by phone: 720-370-1800 or by email: email@example.com
What about THIS?
Can we do a three-way video call if my partner and I are in different locations?
Yes! We love working with long-distance couples by online video. Simply schedule your appointment and then forward the confirmation email you receive (containing the Zoom link) to your partner.
Then, at the time of your appointment you can both click on the link (from separate devices) to be joined with your expert for a three-way video call.
Pro Tip: Double check the time zone your appointment was scheduled in if you and your partner reside in different time zones. We’d hate for one of you to accidentally miss the meeting!
How often will I meet with my counselor or coach?
Great question! That depends on a few variables including your goals, your current circumstances, and where you are in your growth process.
Often, people start by scheduling weekly sessions. As they gain traction, they may move to every-other-week meetings (or longer) in order to have more time to practice the new ways of being that they’re learning in their sessions.
Your counselor or coach will give you their honest recommendations once they learn more about you and your unique situation.
Do you offer counseling by text?
We do not. We provide real, meaningful, powerful, evidence-based counseling and coaching that’s designed to help you create real and lasting change in yourself, your life, and your relationships.
This involves having an authentic relationship with a therapist or coach who can see you and hear you so that they can truly know you, understand you, and help you. Meeting face-to-face online allows your coach to read your body language, or see the fleeting expression on your face after they ask a challenging question, or notice if you’re experiencing a big emotion. That’s why your work with us is transformation: We go deeper.
If we work together, you’ll be having a real relationship with a real coach or therapist who is invested in you.
We don’t do “cookie cutter” because you’re not a cookie. You won’t get cliché advice or canned responses from us. Instead, you’ll get the full attention of a highly trained, smart, caring expert who knows YOU.
You’re an individual with a one-of-a-kind life. We offer you a true growth experience, and that means we both need to show up in an authentic way.
We’re ready to do that, with you.
Can I meet with someone right now?
If you’d like to speak with a coach ASAP – schedule a solution session. Same-day or next-day appointments are often available.
You can dive into your situation with a caring coach, and get feedback and guidance. You’ll get a written action plan sent to you after your meeting with our recommendations and things that you can do to move forward.
Watch this short (90 second) video to learn the difference between a solution session and a free consultation.
Who on your team offers sliding scale rates?
You can see a run down of what our different counselors and coaches charge (and whether they may be willing to slide) on our Rates and Insurance page.
Do you offer free services?
We do not offer free counseling or coaching. However, we do offer a great deal of free resources available to you via our website including expert Love, Happiness and Success advice on our blog and podcast, free online quizzes, and daily doses of advice and inspiration via Instagram.
If you are in need of free mental services, or are in crisis, please check out our Emergency Resources page.
Alternatively, you can do a Google search for “Community Mental Health Center in [your town].” These local agencies are government funded and often have free or low cost services available, as well as access to caseworkers who can help you apply for benefits and connect you to other free or low-cost local resources.
What is your cancellation / refund policy?
We have a twenty-four hour cancellation policy (except in the case of illness or emergency) for regular, ongoing counseling or coaching appointments.
If you pre-pay for a solution session or a class and then change your mind, it’s okay: Cancel your appointment and let us know you’d like a refund.
Please do keep in mind that we are real people! When you schedule an appointment there is a helpful, dedicated professional who has blocked out the time for you in anticipation of your meeting. Out of consideration for them please do try to give us at least 24 hours advance notice if you can. Thank you.
Can I book a session with Dr. Lisa?
Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby is not currently accepting new clients. However, she is working closely with our entire team behind the scenes to support you in your growth. Dr. Lisa is also listening to you, and supporting your journey of growth through he podcast, her writing, and through her Instagram account.
