Therapist Overview

Hi, I’m Matthew. My mission is to help you become who you truly are. I believe that we all have wisdom and creativity inside of us, and we grow into our full potential when we heal our relationships with ourselves and others. I’m dedicated to helping my clients experience this kind of transformative growth through couples counseling, life coaching, and therapy.

Past clients have described my approach as calm, caring, and insightful. I believe that we all make sense in context, and that when we understand how we came to be who we are, we gain the freedom to take the next step in our evolution. I’m genuinely curious about your unique context, and if we work together, you can expect a safe, supportive environment where we can explore it together to create positive change in your life.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. Now, here are a few of the goals we could focus on in our work in coaching or counseling:

Improving Your Relationship

As a husband and a father, I know how valuable our closest relationships are. I also know that they’re not always easy. When you’re struggling in your relationship, the roots of the problem stretch much deeper than what’s visible on the surface. As your couples counselor, I can take you and your partner deep, helping you understand yourselves and each other in ways that heal and strengthen your emotional connection. Then, I’ll provide practical strategies that help you translate your insights into lasting change.

Here are a few areas we can address:

  • Improving communication
  • Resolving conflict
  • Growing closer together / healing disconnection
  • Recovering from infidelity
  • Premarital counseling
  • Changing old relationship patterns
  • Making decisions about the future of your relationship (discernment counseling)

I can support you as your relationship coach, premarital counselor, or marriage counselor, depending on your needs. Learn more about the differences between counseling and coaching and which approach is right for you.

Transformative Life Coaching

If you’re a goal-oriented, growth-minded person, coaching may be the boost you need to create greater success and satisfaction in your life and relationships. As your coach, I will provide motivation, encouragement, and action-oriented guidance as you work toward meaningful goals.

Here are a few areas we can focus on in coaching:

  • Building new relationship skills
  • Improving mindfulness
  • Increasing emotional intelligence
  • Dating with intention
  • Navigating life transitions, like a breakup, divorce, or career change
  • Developing habits that support your success
  • Getting clear about what you want in life
  • Managing stress

Therapy Services

If you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition like anxiety or depression, then therapy is the right choice for you. I specialize in helping people process and gain freedom from systemic, developmental traumas. If you believe that early life experiences are continuing to impact your present in a negative way, particularly in your intimate relationships, then we may be a good fit for working together.

I use an integrative approach to psychotherapy, drawing upon effective, evidence-based modalities including: Internal Family Systems, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Person-Centered Therapy, and Third-Wave mindfulness-based approaches.

I am licensed to provide therapy services in Pennsylvania.

About Me

In addition to being a therapist, I’m a musician and a former music teacher. In fact, my interest in becoming a clinician began when I was teaching music at a school serving complex learners. That experience taught me that we all need to be understood and accepted as we are before we can truly thrive. I still carry that insight into my work with clients, helping them understand how they’ve adapted to the circumstances of their lives so they can let go of self-judgment, increase their self-compassion, and create a strong foundation for positive change.

Originally from Upstate New York, I earned my MS.Ed. in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Miami. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. Now, I’d love to hear about you and your goals for therapy and coaching. If you think we’d be a good fit for working together, I invite you to schedule a free consultation.
