How to Have a Great Relationship

Having the kind of relationship where you’re both still excited to be together fifteen years from now…

As a couples counselor and expert marriage counselor, I know I don’t need to tell you about the potential pitfalls of marriage. I’m not going to quote scary statistics about divorce rates to you. And I’m not going to yap at you about how crappy divorce is for children – there’s a strong chance you or your fiance lived through it first-hand in your own family growing up.

What I would like to tell you is that many, many couples love each other to bits, cherish the wonderful family that they have created together, and genuinely think that getting married to each other was the best thing they’ve ever done.

Even decades later.

I know this because I’m one of them. I’m going to totally date myself now and sound like the “Grizzled Gen-Xer” I am: I’ve been married for nearly twenty years, and still think that my husband is awesome.

My engagement ring came out of a bubblegum machine. In 1993. I still wear it, and it is the most valuable, priceless thing I own.

What Really Matters

Getting married is not about the ring or the clothes or the party. All that fades away. I can barely remember my own wedding. But the connection, love, and friendship I have with my husband are priceless beyond measure. My relationship is the foundation of my entire life. You deserve to have this too.

On this episode of the Love, Happiness, and Success Podcast, I’ll be sharing the three essential components you need to create a great relationship and a lifetime of happiness together.
