  • About Me

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Sara, and I can help you create meaningful connections in your life, whether it’s with your partner, a family member or even yourself. I value the privilege of joining you in your most vulnerable moments, and feel honored to witness the growth and healing you can achieve through this process.

Change is often scary and uncomfortable, but it’s also brave. Reaching out for help is a huge step towards living your life to the fullest, and I’m thankful for those that choose to trust me with their story. It might be challenging work, but you are worth the effort!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Tennessee. As a Tennessee marriage counselor, I am able to provide therapy services to Tennessee residents and coaching services to clients located across the U.S. and internationally.

My Approach

My approach with all of my clients is to create a place of safety. I enter each session with a collaborative spirit and warm energy, and invite you to contribute to the flow of the session. I prefer a holistic approach to healing, considering the emotional, physical, spiritual, sexual, and intellectual issues that might be impacting your life. I’m highly adaptable to your needs, and use a variety of evidence-based approaches to help you achieve your desired results.

My clients love that I am non-judgemental, intuitive, honest and informed. I want your sessions to be times that you look forward to, because you have confidence that there is value in our work together. Above all else, I value authenticity and connection, and I strive to create a safe space in my sessions for you to show up with your whole story, regardless of how messy it might seem.

I’m a dedicated ally of the LGBTQ community, and welcome clients of all identities and from all walks of life.

Couples Counseling & Relationship Coaching

I love working with couples! Whether you and your partner are in need of an intimacy reset, or the relationship requires a comprehensive renovation, I love the puzzle of couples work. With so much history, past pains, and future desires, couples work presents rich opportunities for healing and connection.

I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to identify your unique interactional patterns and attachment styles, and then work alongside you to foster healing and deepen your emotional connections. I will guide you towards change by giving you valuable insight, useful tools, natural language, and a renewed belief in the possibilities of your partnership.

I can help you navigate the following areas:

  • Relationship Insecurity and Jealousy
  • Intimacy and Topics Related to Sex
  • Communication Challenges and Conflict Resolution
  • Affair Recovery
  • Parenting Concerns
  • Enhancing Friendship and Emotional Intimacy
  • Financial Challenges
  • Childhood Experiences
  • Family Stress
  • Reconciliation from Separation/Divorce
  • Premarital Counseling

I completed the Gottman Institute’s Affair Recovery Workshop, and am experienced in helping couples repair their relationships, rebuild trust, and find renewed hope for the future after infidelity.

Co-Parent Coaching

I’m deeply invested in working with those who have divorced and are now building a new, co-parenting partnership. Whether you’d like to work with me individually, or together, our sessions can teach you to defuse arguments, prioritize your child’s wellbeing, avoid co-parenting pitfalls, and move towards your new normal with acceptance and respect.

The ultimate goal is to create a healthy and nurturing environment for your children. I can help you identify strategies to put aside your differences and create an optimal environment for your child to learn and grow. We will explore healthy boundaries, fair schedules, and clear communication methods, while giving each partner deeper insight into the importance of being peacefully divorced. It might seem daunting, but it’s possible, and so very valuable for your children’s well-being and yours as well.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is for anyone wanting support with mental health concerns, deeper insight into why they are the way they are, and clarity around why they do the things they do. You are unique and your story deserves to be honored. Let’s explore together all of the moments and milestones that have gotten you this far and the memories and beliefs that keep you from your whole and healthy self.

I like to use an integrative approach with my individual clients. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma resolution, and I often draw from experiential therapy, bodywork, Internal Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you move toward your goals. Together, we can foster insight and implement actions to reduce symptoms and support you in living the life you desire.

I can help you with:

  • Self-esteem issues
  • Body image concerns
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Childhood trauma
  • Sexual trauma
  • Processing trauma experiences

Life Coaching

Life gets messy, and sometimes you need fresh eyes and new perspectives in order to take action and create change. Personal growth can be scary, but if staying in your mess sounds exhausting, you might be ready to dive in.

My approach to coaching is highly collaborative. I will work alongside you to explore your goals and the current challenges to meeting them. In coaching sessions, I use a solution-focused lens, which means we will focus on what you’d like to achieve and draw on the strengths you already have to get there. I also draw on skills and tools developed from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Experiential Therapy. I see you as the expert of your own experience. My role in this process is to use my expertise to deepen your understanding of yourself, identify new paths forward, and provide safety and validation throughout the process.

I can help with:

  • Divorce recovery
  • Dating challenges
  • Family stress
  • Parenting or family planning
  • Personal growth
  • Navigating life transitions
  • Relationship satisfaction
  • Spiritual deconstruction
  • LGBTQ+ experiences

About Me

I graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2011 with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I owned an in-person private practice from 2011-2021 near Nashville, TN. I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), including completion of the EFT Externship and Core Skills Training. Additionally, I completed EMDR training in 2014. During 2021, I completed the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Affair Recovery Workshop offered by John and Julie Gottman. From time to time with my clients, I nerd all the way out with a whiteboard.

I have been married to my best friend, Jonathan, for 11 years. My son, Evan, and my daughter, Lucy keep me cheering from the sidelines for football and soccer. Lucy is on the Autism Spectrum and has taught me how to be an advocate and to show up boldly, even when I am unsure of the path. When I’m not with my family, I enjoy remodeling old furniture and building new pieces, pottery, painting, and cooking. I love cold brew coffee, true crime, kayaking, and deep conversations with trusted friends.
