Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am an online marriage counselor, therapist, life coach, and relationship coach. My passion is to help people create and maintain the long-term, sustainable changes they want to see to live life up to their full potential.
My training and experience allow me to work with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds all over the world. I have experience helping my clients achieve many different types of personal and relationship goals.
If you have never been involved in personal growth work before, or if this is one of many attempts, please know that you are walking into a safe and open-minded environment that emphasizes your strengths, hopes, and opportunities with me. I work with people of all ages, races, religions, genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.
I practice evidence-based interventions to help you work through interpersonal, relational, or societal constraints preventing you from living fully. My goal is to have a strong, supportive relationship with you that helps you get more of what you want.
If you are starting your growth work in a place of not knowing specifically what you want, that’s okay too! We’ll work together to help you get clarity about what’s most important to you and then set goals to achieve your ideal outcomes. I am a down-to-earth, active, and engaged partner in your growth process, and I take great interest in your overall well-being.
Couples Therapist and Relationship Coach
I love working with all types of couples, and I am always honored when people let me have a glimpse into their intimate and treasured relationships. It is very normal to experience conflict in your relationship, and it can be helpful to have a relationship coach or couples therapist work with you. Whether your struggles are around parenting, sex, money, work-life balance, communication, or even if you don’t really know what’s going on, couples therapy or relationship coaching can help. Learn more about the differences between therapy and coaching, and which approach is right for you.
In couples therapy with residents of Oregon and Colorado, I use Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, an evidence-based model of relationship counseling that focuses on deep healing and connection. I also draw on this framework in relationship coaching to help couples create positive long-term improvements in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and more.
Couples I have worked with notice that they generally feel more warmth toward each other and have become experts in identifying when they are caught up in a destructive pattern, redirecting themselves into using the positive relationship and communication skills they learn in our sessions.
As a certified positive discipline instructor, I work with parents to help with various challenges from homework to technology, eating, routines, sibling rivalry, and more. I have worked as a school-based therapist with adolescents and their families, so I have a deep understanding of teenagers and their ever-evolving relationships with their parents. I can also help with co-parenting issues for parents living apart or together.
My master’s degree is in marriage and family therapy, and I have experience as a systemic and family therapist. I have provided family therapy services to families who have experienced loss, abuse, divorce, historical trauma, and a wide range of issues. My goal when working with families is to create a space where you feel fully able to work through these issues together in a non-judgemental and safe environment.
Individual Life Coaching
Working one-on-one with a life coach can have lasting and impactful changes on you and your relationships. I can help you identify your goals and create a path forward to meet your full potential. I have helped clients work through divorce and breakups, gaining strength and confidence, working through fears, and other issues that arise throughout the life cycle.
Often we are held back by beliefs placed on us by our families, peers, society, and sometimes ourselves – I use a liberation-based mindset to help you move forward, free from these limiting beliefs.
Individual Therapy Services
I am a licensed therapist in the states of Oregon and Colorado. I can offer psychotherapy and mental health treatment for people in these areas. My special areas of interest and training are in adoption, adult survivors of sexual abuse, body image, depression, anxiety, shame, obsession, and habitual worrying.
I am specially trained in the Health at Every Size paradigm, which I use with my clients who have suffered from cycles of dieting and body image issues.
After graduating with my master’s degree in marriage, couples, and family therapy from Lewis & Clark College, I worked as a child and family therapist treating families impacted by foster care, drug abuse, mental illness, and trauma.
In 2010, I traveled to Uganda on a cultural exchange for family therapists. I provided training on family therapy to Ugandan counselors and received training on community-based healing from the counselors in Uganda. There, I realized the power of societal narratives and the impact those stories have on mental health.
In 2013 I moved to London, England, where I worked with families, couples, and individuals from all over the world. In London, I also worked as a school-based therapist, so I have a deep understanding of families with school-age children.
I pride myself on being a culturally competent therapist who focuses on social justice-based mental health.
I look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have.
